Being a new mom is hard enough without having to stress about venturing out and the possibility of having to breastfeed in public. Even though we have the right to nurse our baby wherever we choose, some moms are apprehensive of giving a full frontal to the world while they try to get their 2 month old to latch on.
That’s where the Lila Bean comes in. Of all the nursing covers I have come across none have the clever features of this cover. Designed by a breastfeeding mom, the Lila Bean has a gathered edge that creates a comfy shield for your little one, is easy to control how much (or little) you want covered and an open collar that allows you to peek in and make sure all is well in your “breastfeeding tent”. What’s more, the Lila Bean is so versatile you can use it as a cover for your stroller on a sunny day, a blanket for baby’s car seat and even a cover for a front carrier, making it a good investment. The Lila Bean comes in over 20 fabulous prints and use only high quality designer fabrics. Shop the whole collection at lilabean.net
We’ve made it! The snow has finally melted away and summer is in full swing here in Montreal and with it comes one of our most beloved festival – the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Beginning Thursday June 26, visit Place des Arts to get your fill of free shows, great music and the fabulous “joy de vie” that surrounds our city this time of year. Here are just some the activities suitable for young ones:
This year the revamped Parc Musical Rio Tinto Alcan will offer even more activities for kids including a “musical awakening” for children 0-6. (FREE)
The Little School of Jazz takes place everyday at 11AM and 1:30PM at the Grande-Place of Complexe Desjardin. It’s a fun interactive show - great for preschoolers (FREE)
Quebec artist Armand Vaillancourt invites people of all ages to help paint a giant mural every evening from 6PM to 8PM on Jeanne-Mance St., between Ste. Catherine and De Maisonneuve. (FREE)
As always there are plenty of outdoor concerts for everyone to enjoy. Having visited the Jazz fest with my little ones over the past 3 years here are a few tips I’ve found to make life easier:
Bring along plenty of snacks and fluids
Don’t forget suncreen, hats and light clothing – but if you intend on staying until dark bring along a sweater or blanket
Leave the big stroller at home, a carrier or umbrella stroller is much more suitable for trekking through the crowds and up and down the stairs
Remember parking is non-existent during the festival. Take the metro to Place des Arts and you are right in the middle of the action
Created by two moms from Vancouver BC, Westcoast Baby makes practical and stylish baby clothes and accessories. The Infant Kimono Wrap
immediately drew me in. Dressing a newborn can be very stressful,
especially for new parents. The kimono makes getting baby dressed easy
and diaper changes a breeze. You can buy Westcoast Baby gear in
Montreal at Bummis and Rose ou Blue or buy directly from their website (check out the Minkee Fur Lined Kimonos
for toddlers).
